New CD of Connemara talent launched by Connemara Community Radio
A double CD 'Come By The Hills' featuring some the best of Connemara talent will be launched by Connemara Community Radio on Monday 24th March in Foyle’s Hotel Clifden.
Previously recorded artists Fiachra O’Regan, Liz & Yvonne Kane, Mirella Murray of Cherish the Ladies, Marie Walsh & John Gerard Walsh are joined by singers and musicians, many of whom have not until now made a professional recording. They include Michael Heanue, Renvyle, Tommy Kenny from Clifden, Barbara Burke from Carna, Annabella Lydon from Letterfrack.
The CD contains 54 tracks of music, song & poetry. The concept for the CD is based on Connemara Community Radio's National award-winning radio programme The West Wind Blows presented on Sunday evenings by Kathleen Faherty. "We have had a very warm response to our programme over the past five years" says Kathleen Faherty, one of the CD's executive producers. "The combination of readings interspersed with music & songs appeals to our listeners and we hope the CD will appeal to a wide audience too."
The CD's other executive producer, Bridie Cashin, explained that the CD was produced to preserve these precious expressions of local talent. "The CD will be sold for only €15, wonderful value for a double CD. This is made possible with support from Leader" stated Bridie.
The CD is produced & edited by Richard Dunkley.
Funds raised go to support Connemara Community Radio.
All are welcome to attend the launch on Monday 24th March at 8pm for a night for music, song & dance.
